Filming blog: The Troubles of Filming during Thanksgiving Break
So, during the week of the holiday, Thanksgiving, students are given a break from school. This is when I planned on filming my music video with my friend who is starring in it. While we planned on her coming to my house to filmed towards the beginning of the break, that is not what occurred. Due to our busy schedules and quarantining to make sure both of us were negative for Covid-19, we ended up having to film at the end of the break. We both had homework to do for other classes as well as having to spending time with our families, which was our main priority. So of course, that threw off our initial plans. However, it wasn't that much of a problem since we found a way to match up our schedules in a way that benefitted us both. During the actual filming, we both had a fun time recording and finding ways to spruce up the angles I recorded her in. While it took us about an hour to film, it felt like only five minutes since we enjoyed the process of it. Filming someone else instead of myself was also a different experience than being in front of the camera. While being in front of the camera for my last project was a bit nerve-wracking, it felt somewhat comforting being behind the camera this time. Also, I my friend did an awesome job of taking a backseat and listening to everything I asked of her while filming so that I could best portray my ideas. However, I did have to tweak some ideas while filming so that we could have the best look in the end product. For instance, I initially planned to use a galaxy light that projected stars and the moon. But, the batteries in the light died and we had no spare batteries, so we ended up just using LED lights instead. Another thing I changed was the setting where I filmed. Due to the time restraints, I found it easier to only film in my bedroom. If I were to venture out into my living room and bathroom, I feared that I'd have the problem of going over the time limit. So, I decided to play it safe and stay in one place. While filming, as I thought, the time went by quick and stay in my bedroom turned out to be the right decision. All in all, while there were some bumps in the road, the filming process is starting to become a bit easier as I do more projects. Now, all I have to do is edit and put on the final touches.
See you in the next one!
